As a competitive cyclist between 1997-2000, Tricia Downing’s career was a promising one. However, one fateful September day, during a training ride in Golden, Colorado, Tricia’s life changed forever when she was hit head-on by a car and instantly paralyzed from the chest down. Returning to a normal life after sustaining a T-4 (chest level) spinal cord injury is anything but simple, and yet Tricia’s remarkable come-back to sports has commended her as the first female paraplegic athlete to cross the finish line of an Ironman triathlon. Now a member of the physically challenged National Triathlon Team, Tricia is also a pioneer in women’s wheelchair triathlon and has since competed in over 15 marathons and a triathlons ranging from sprint to Ironman.

Chrissie Wellington, reigning and triple World IRONMAN Champion, (2007, 2008, 2009) made an all smiles appearance at the TCR Show on Valentine’s weekend 2010. The 170cm athlete was a figure of pure muscle and grace as she greeted the crowd and made her customary appearance along side her sponsors.

HELENA LUCAS, who is sponsored by Charles Russell LLP, represented Great Britain in Qingdao at the 2008 Paralympic Games. Helena the inspirational sailor from Weymouth and member of the elite GBR Skandia Team, was the only female selected to race in the 2.4 Metre fleet in Qingdao. The 2.4 Metre, single handed keelboat class, is the most competitive class in the Paralympic Games. In September 2005, the 30 year-old yachtswoman was bronze medallist at the 2.4mR Open World Championship 2005 meet at the Marciana Marina in Italy. She was also the highest placed female yachtswoman out of a total of 88 competitors.
